KABUL: Former President Hamid Karzai on Friday commended Tajikistan President Emomali Rahmon’s ‘positive remarks’ regarding Afghanistan, saying Tajikistan has always been a good neighbor.

In a statement, Hamid Karzai said: “During my fourteen years of service, we had very good and fraternal relations with Tajikistan, and especially with the President himself. Tajikistan has always wanted lasting peace and stability in Afghanistan, and this fact was once again reflected in the recent speech of His Excellency Emomali Rahmon.

“I wish that as a result of comprehensive cooperation between the two countries, Afghanistan will have universal and lasting peace and tranquility as soon as possible,” he added.
