Karzai meets Afghan migrants in Germany

AT-KABUL: Former president Hamid Karzai has met with a number of the Afghan migrants in Germany, his office said Monday.

“Karzai who is for a visit in Germany, went to a school provided by the German government for the Afghan migrants,” it said in a statement.

The statement added that the migrants shared their problems with the former president, asking for further assistances from the German government.

“Karzai encouraged Afghan students to get education, promising to cooperate in solving their problems.”

Separately, Karzai in Germany, granted the Charlie Award to the Serb footballer Neven Subotic, according to the statement.

The former president handed the award to Subotic during a special ceremony held Friday to which Karzai had attended.

The young Serb athlete also runs a relief foundation, which provides the vulnerable people with potable water.
