AT-KABUL: Former President Hamid Karzai was saddened by learning of the death of a veteran scholar Professor Mohammad Fazel, his office said on Saturday.
“Late Professor Fazel had been long serving his country’s education and higher education as a teacher, lecturer, principal, head, deputy minister and minister of education,” Karzai was quoted by the statement as saying. “His services are appreciable and his death is a tragedy.”
The former president expressed condolences and sympathies to the family and friends of late Fazel as well as the education community, wishing Fazel paradise.
Professor Fazel passed away due to an old illness last week in Paris.
