Karzai urged for female access to education on women’s international day

AT

Kabul: Hamid Karzai, the former president of Afghanistan, said in a tweet on the occasion of March 8 International Women’s Day that women make up half of the society and play a valuable and constructive role in the progress of human societies.

Mr. Karzai added “Achieving excellence and prosperity was not possible without the active participation of women in various fields of life, and without a doubt, Afghanistan is no exception to this rule.”

Access to education and work is not only the right of Afghan women, but it is considered one of the most urgent needs of our society.

“Therefore, I once again call on the Islamic caretaker government to open the gates of schools and universities to girls as soon as possible in order to have a prosperous, progressive and self-reliant Afghanistan and to provide education and work for Afghan women.”
