First anniversary of Hamid Karzai Foundation marked
AT-KABUL: The former President, Hamid Karzai on Thursday during marking the first anniversary of his foundation, has called on youths to focus on education.
While insisting over supporting of youth in higher education, he called on all national traders to support his foundation in order to help needy youths and pave education ground for them.
Appreciating Russia, China, India, Iran and number of domestic universities for assisting the foundation by providing scholarship and equipment, ex-president said “supporting needy youth to education was a big dream for me.”
He said “after end of my presidency, I have made a decision to establish a foundation in which to help vulnerable youths to continue pursing higher education inside the country and in abroad.”
While motivating national and international universities and traders to support the foundation, he said, “all scholarships would be distributed through a transparent process to real needy youths.”
Executive Chief of Karzai Foundation, Dr. Rangin Dadfar Spanta, said the foundation has provided scholarship to 207 need youths in internal universities and tens of others were granted scholarships to abroad.
He added that over hundreds needy youths would be granted with scholarships through foundation inside the country and in abroad.
He added that besides providing scholarship, Karzai Foundation has run different academic seminars in order to enrich cultural histories as well as introduce Afghan academic figures.
This is completely a non-political foundation and the aim is to provide education facilities for the youths, he added.
While admiring Karzai foundation for running education program for destitute youths, ex-Head of Independent Commission for Overseeing Implementation of the Constitution, Gul Rahman Qazi, said “reaching peace without education is impossible.”
He added that the youths have to focus on education in order to move toward peace and stability.
Karzai foundation has been established in November 2015, the core reason behind it is to help the youth and the talented young generation who have been distanced from higher education.
