Key Taliban member arrested in Nangarhar

KABUL: A senior member of the Taliban group along with his three associates had been detained during a crackdown carried out by the Afghan security forces in eastern Nangarhar province, officials said Monday.

According to the Interior Ministry, Mullah Turab a senior Taliban member detained in an operation conducted by General Command of Police Special Units (GCPSU) in Chamtali village in Surkhrod district.

The detained Taliban member “Mullah Turab” was main planner and organizer of terrorist and destructive activities, including armed assault and explosions in the district as well as in different parts of Nangarhar province, the ministry said in a statement.

Furthermore, in a separate operation, the Afghan national police discovered and neutralized two suicide vests in Babos region, Pul-e-Alam City, capital of Logar province. Through it seizures, the police succeeded to prevent a tragedy incident in the province.
