Kunar fighting leaves five Taliban dead

AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: Security forces killed at least five Taliban insurgents to repulse their attack on security check-posts in Marwi district of eastern Kunar province, an official said the other day.

Kunar Police Chief Brig. Gen. Abdul Habib Sayedkhel while confirming the incident said that Afghan National Army (ANA) killed at least five attackers who wanted to attack the security checkpoints in the province. He added that two insurgents also received injuries. However, the Taliban spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid, claimed that his fighters killed several security forces and also captured three ANA check-posts during the attack. He said that only one fighter was killed and two others were wounded in the firefight.
