Lawmakers elect secretary for Wolesi Jirga

Session over security issue, particularly on hospital attack delayed for Monday

AT-KABUL: The members of the Wolesi Jirga (Lower House) of the parliament on Sunday elected Abdul Qader Zazai as the secretary of house.

After three rounds of election among several rivals, Abdul Qader Zazai succeeded to gain majority of votes and was elected as secretary for Wolesi Jirga.

Out of 175 present parliamentarians, 94 voted for Abdul Qader Zazai and his rival Reza Khoshak Watandost failed to gain the needed votes for the slots.

Speaker of the Wolesi Jirga Abdul Rauf Ibrahimi voiced pleasure over election of Zazai and wished him more success.

Zazai said that he would struggle best to follow rules and work hard as new secretary.

On the other hand it was due to the Wolesi Jirga run a session over security situation particularly the recent attack in Sardar Dawood Khan 400 bed hospital in Kabul, which left over 40 killed and around 80 wounded, but this session postponed for tomorrow.

Member of the Wolesi Jirga will summon the Ministers of Defense, Interior and Head of National Directorate of Security to brief about the attack on a heavily guarded military hospital in Kabul.
