KABUL: A car bomber rammed Sunday into a Governor of Logar convoy, killing eight including bodyguards and wounded at least fifteen people. Logar governor and security chief, the targets of the attack, escaped unharmed.
Logar Governor Anwar Ishaqzai’s Spokesman Khalid Safi explained that a car bomber targeted governor and security chief convoy in Sang-e-Nawishta area at the entrance gate of Logar province at around 10:30am, which was en route to Logar province from capital Kabul.
Governor and security chief of Logar survived the incident, but unfortunately four guards of governor killed and one guards of security head wounded in the attack, he maintained.
Meanwhile, Provincial Council head of Logar Haseebullah Stanikzai confirmed the incident and said that the attack took place in entrance gate of Logar province, where many private vehicles were passing the area.
He said that eight people including five guards of governor and one guards of security chief were killed in the attack. Fifteen others including civilians and military were wounded in the incident, added Stanikzai.
Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack, the group spokesman said in a statement.
