AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: An Indian citizen Ayaz Sultan, who disappeared on October 30, 2015, has purportedly joined the Islamic State, also known as Daesh group in Afghanistan, The Hindu an Indian newspaper reported on Sunday.
The 23-year-old Indian citizen Ayaz Sultan has gone missing from his hometown, Malwani area in Malad, northern Mumbai and he had boarded a flight towards Kabul. Before leaving, he showed his friends some documents and videos of Daesh.
“WhatsApp messages from Sultan to his friends verified his association with IS unit in the war-torn videos,” source quoted Maharashtra anti-terrorism officials as saying.
After reaching Kabul, Sultan was in touch with a few of his friends through WhatsApp, source added.
“All of the conversations that he has been having are about radical thought and extremist views,” source added. According to the paper, Sultan was using a Wi-Fi connection in a bid to chat on WhatsApp and avoided to use SIM card in making contact.
The atrocities being inflicted on Muslims in different countries and cold response of the international community toward carnages were the main things in Sultan’s WhatsApp messages to his friends.
It is worth mentioning that the India government arrested three university students in December last year, who were intended to join Daesh in Afghanistan.
