AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: Ministry of Defense (MoD) rejected the recently published report which claimed 75 increase in Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF) casualties in the current year.
Spokesman for the defense ministry, General Dawlat Waziri, acknowledged increase in security forces casualties, but said that figures in the report were exaggerated as the death and injuries were below 75 percent.
He said that Afghan security forces casualty has increased by nearly 3.5 percent in the current year when compared to 2014.
Criticizing the report, he said that insurgents suffered more casualties than the ANSF.
Recently local and international media published a report, claiming 75 percent surge in the security forces casualty during the first half of 2015 when compared to the same period of last year.
The report seems more credible as it was compiled and published based on the data that the watchdog has received.
According to the report, 60 percent increase in casualty was the direct result of lack of lethal items and logistics, which affected strength and performance of the security forces at the battlefield.
Five percent increase was reported in clashes, some of which took place after the security posts came under attack.
