AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: Security officials will be summoned by Wolesi Jirga today (on Saturday) to brief lawmakers on mounting insecurity across the country.
Assistant secretary of the Wolesi Jirga, Irfanullah Irfan, told Azadi Radio that the Minister of Interior, Chief of Army Staff and Chairman of the National Directorate of Security (NDS) will be summoned to brief MPs on increasing insecurity in different parts of the country.
“The officials will also brief lawmakers on new appointments in the NDS and distribution of electronic national identity cards process,” he added.
Irfan said that Wolesi Jirga is mulling to devise a plan for various national issues in near future and hand it over to the government.
The decision comes at a time that recently the Taliban militants have increased their activities in different parts of the country. The militant group captured two districts of Kunduz province—Chahardara and Dasht-e-Archi— last week. However, security forces managed to retake Chahardara district from the militants. The militants captured Want Waigal district Nuristan province on Friday.
