AT-KABUL: The MTN, a private communication company granted education scholarships under the umbrella of ‘MTN foundation’ to 500 poor students in Kabul.
Providing free education opportunity for needy students by the MTN has been run with the cooperation of the Deputy Ministry of Youth Affairs and Ministry of Education.
The 500 viable students were selected out of 1,500 volunteers through entrance exam. The students would study programs of Diploma in Information and Technology (DIT), Diploma in English Languages (DEL) and Diploma in Business Administration (DBA) in Shaheen private institute of higher education.
The MTN chief executive officer Hassan Jabber said: “MTN Afghanistan management recognized the value and the importance of the knowledge and development of the Afghan youth in such sensitive circumstances and preferred running of providing free education opportunity to the poor youth.”
The MTN is fully committed to use its best and tireless efforts to provide free education opportunity for Afghan youth, he added.
He said that education had key role in developing of the country as well as growth of economic, thus, the MTN focuses on education.
He urged students to use as much as possible the opportunity and study hard to reach to objectives.
Member of the Wolesi Jirga (Lower House) of Parliament Abdul Qader Zazai Watandost expressed pleasure over providing of education facility by the MTN Communication Company, saying that learning was the only way to build the country and lead it toward development.
Pointing to education progress in the country in the past 14 years, he urged youth to exert utmost efforts to learn knowledge and get higher degrees for further progress.
