Nangarhar appoints first female court judge

KABUL: For the first time a woman has been appointed as a judge in the special primary court of elimination of violence against women in eastern Nangarhar province.

According to Nangarhar Press Office, Chief Judge of Appeal Court of Nangarhar Mohammad Wazir said that based on approval of Supreme Court, Reihana has been appointed as judge in special primary court of elimination of violence against women.

A female judge was needed to address women cases in the province. Women related cases were being processed by male judges before her appointment.

Mr. Wazir urged the new female judge to behave based on law and fight against corruption effectively.

Reihana pledged to work hard to efficiently address women’s problem, and also to discharge her responsibility honestly and transparently.
