AT-KABUL: At least 45 Taliban militants have been killed NATO airstrikes in eastern Nangarhar province, said a security official on Saturday.
Muhammad Numan Atefi, a spokesman for 201 Selab army corps, said that foreign forces carried out four airstrikes in Achin, Nazian, and Batikot districts of Nangarhar killing 45 militants including two commander of the Taliban.
The Taliban have commented about the casualties inflects to their fighters in the airstrikes yet.
It is hard for security forces to target hideouts of the Taliban militants in the mountainous areas of eastern provinces. Thus, NATO frequently carries out airstrikes to target the militants.
Some officials in the province believe that the airstrike are very effective in fight against militants in mountainous areas, as they prevent the Taliban militants from roaming in large groups.
