Nawa district chief shot dead

AT-KABUL: The chief of Nawa district of southern Helmand province has been shot dead in an ambush of the Taliban militants, said an official source on Monday.

The incident took place in Moqor district of Ghazni province. However, Nang Safai, spokesman for Ghazni governor, said that incident has taken place in Shahjoi district of Zabul province.

Manaf Khan, the Nawa district chief, was in his private car on Kabul-Kandahar highway when he was attacked by the Taliban militants.

It is worth mentioning that Ghazni province is an important gateway to the Kabul from the southeast. The Taliban militants are active in many parts of the strategic district.
