NDS-ISI deal will allow Pakistan to turn Afghanistan into a terror hub: Khurram

AT-KABUL: Signing of NDS-ISI deal will allow Pakistan to turn Afghanistan into a hub of terrorism to extend insecurity to the Central Asian region, borders of Russia and China, said ex-President Hamid Karzai’s chief of staff, Abdul Karim Khurram.

He said that intelligence sharing deal will gradually transfer the bad traits of Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) to the National Directorate of Security (NDS) of Afghanistan and it will make NDS subservient to ISI.

Implementation of different items of the deal will unleash an atmosphere of fear and dictatorship in the country, where nefarious spy designs could easily be implemented.

“By implementation of this deal Pakistan wants to extend the war to the Central Asia and borders of Russia and China. In short, Pakistan wants to do the same in Afghanistan, what it did in Waziristan and tribal belt— Islamabad strengthened terrorism in the areas to fuel wars in Afghanistan,” he added

In an article published in Dialy Dunia, a bilingual newspaper, Khurram said that efforts are in full swing to turn Afghanistan into Waziristan.

He said that the US Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Martin Dempsey’s recent trip to Afghanistan kick started the project to turn Afghanistan into Waziristan. “At first the US made the leaders of the National Unity Government speak that the US and foreign troops must stay in Afghanistan. Then Dempsey said that the National Unity Government wants establishment of a regional center for fight against the ISIS,” he added.

Khurram said that the United States wanted to have military bases in Afghanistan since 2001. “Signing of the BSA allowed US to remain in the country and have military bases. The bases will function as the centers for a new round of wars under the name of ISIS and other international terrorist groups,” he added.

Khurram said that current insecurity, weak economy along with growing jobless rate, undermined political legitimacy of the leadership of the government are the main factors of the process of turning Afghanistan into Waziristan. He warned that expansion of wars to Afghanistan’s north, arming irresponsible individuals, implementation of binding conditions of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), and the lingering crisis over electoral reforms will further deteriorate the situation in the country.

Khurram said that undermining the government and dividing Afghanistan into fiefdoms will on one hand weaken national unity, while on the other will reduce the management and accountability of the government. He said that this project will turn Afghanistan into an exporter of terrorism to the Central Asia and eventually extend the wars and insecurity to the borders of Russia and China.

Citing a recent report of Pentagon, Khurram said that different terrorist groups in Afghanistan want to focus on specific parts of the country. He added that the report is a confirmation of the US map it has drawn for Afghanistan. Based on the report, ISIS is eyeing northeastern areas, Haqqani Network southern and southeastern provinces of Afghanistan, al-Qaeda wants to focus on Maidan Wardak, Ghazni and Zabul provinces and the Taliban want to control southeastern provinces of Afghanistan.

He said that some officials of the NUG under the name of fight against ISIS are trying to distribute arms among their supporters in the north, which will trigger an eternal war across the country.
