AT-KABUL: The National Directorate of Security (NDS) on Tuesday said that an ammunition cache used by the enemies of the country, was discovered and confiscated in the northern Balkh province.
In a statement, the NDS said the cache included 395 remote controls, 395 meters of explosives wire, 15 roadside bombs, 800 explosive capsules and others type of explosives were discovered and confiscated.
Moreover, the statement said that the terrorists planned to carry out attacks in the province, which was thwarted by NDS forces.
It is worth mentioning, that security elsewhere in northern Balkh province has been improved as compared to the past.
Separately, at least 37 Taliban militants were killed in a different operations lunched by security forces within past 24 hours across the country, the ministry of defense said.
“The national army with the cooperation of the national police and the national directorate of security operatives, conducted clearance operations against insurgents in different areas of Nangarhar, Ghazni, Paktia, Logar, Kandahar, Uruzgan, Zabul, Ghor, Farah, Herat, Takhar, Kunduz, Jowzjan, and Helmand provinces,” the ministry said in a statement issued on Tuesday.
“In these operations, 37 insurgents were killed and 14 others injured,” it said.
In addition to that three insurgents arrested during the operation.
The security forces also destroyed four insurgents’ strong hideouts and defused six landmines recently planted by the militants, the statement added.
However, the statement did not disclose if there were any casualties on the side of security forces.
The Taliban militants, who have been waging an insurgency since its regime was toppled in late 2001, have yet to make any comments on the issue.
