Needy people in Jawzjan seek winter aid

KABUL: Poor and needy families in Sheberghan, the capital city of Jawzjan called on government and other concerned organization for help during winter.

Rahima, a needy woman, who along with some widows was waiting for winter aid before the provincial governor office, said, the concerned organizations are practicing favoritism in distribution of winter aid. “We have no other way of making money to survive, but begging,” she said.

A large number of destitute elderly people, children and women have gathered in front of the Afghan Red Crescent Society (ARCS), governor office, directorate of refugees and repatriation as well as directorate of border and tribal affairs in the province to get aid.

Mirwais Abdali, the director of border and tribal affairs who also lead a delegation of distribution of aid, said that they have distributed winter clothes and food to some 3,000 needy families in Khwaja Dokoh and Aqcha districts as well as Sheberghan city.

He urged welfare organization to send more aid, as poverty rate is high in the province.
