Nine militants arrested in Nangarhar

AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: Afghan border police had arrested nine Taliban militants in Nazyan district of eastern Nangarhar province, said an official on Tuesday.

Commander of the 301st Border Police Zone, Col. Mohammad Ayub Hussain Khail, told media in Jalalabad city that the rebels were apprehended in Marwo area. They were planning to attack posts of the border police in Guldara and Shah Kot areas of Nazyan district.

He said the group of nine Taliban fighters was involved in different terrorist activities, adding that different types of weapons and explosives were also recovered from the possession of the militants.

He did not disclose the nationality of the militants but said that it is clear that they are Taliban insurgents.

It is pertinent to mention that the Afghan Air Force has killed dozens of Daesh militants and destroyed their hideouts and weapons in Achin and Chaparhar districts of Nangarhar province.
