Nine Taliban fighters detained in Nangarhar

AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: Nine Taliban militants including seven Pakistani insurgents have been detained in an operation carried out by the security forces in the Ghanikhel district of eastern Nangarhar province, an official said on Tuesday.

Abdul Wahab, the district administrative chief, told Pajhwok Afghan News that the operation was conducted in Golai locality of the district on Monday night.

“There was no clash during the operation, but two Afghan and seven others Pakistani militants were arrested during the operation,” he said.

The provincial governor spokesman Attuallah Khogyani also confirmed the raid and said, “Afghan security forces took the militants with themselves upon their arrest.”

Moreover, he said that some weapons belonging to the insurgents were also seized by security forces. “The arrested militants were involved in several anti-state activities in different parts of the district.”

However, the Taliban insurgents have not commented about the incident so far.
