Nominees for defense, intelligence posts introduced to parliament

By Farhad Naibkhel-KABUL: The nominees for the defense ministry and the National Directorate of Security (NDS) positions were introduced Wednesday to the lawmakers for the vote of confidence.

Second Vice President Sarwar Danish introduced General Abdullah Habibi as candidate for Defense Ministry and Mohammad Masoom Stanikzai as candidates for National Directorate of Security.

Vice president asked parliamentarians to give the nominees confidence votes to help security forces for better management and leadership.

He said that National Unity Government while emphasizing over cooperation between government and parliament, will operate in consultant with national assembly.

Following parliament demand, government hold steps to put end before culture of caretakers in governmental organs, thus it is required of parliament to approve introduced nominees.

General Abdullah Habibi had operated in different military posts including military instructor, Commandant of 201 army corps and currently working as acting minister for defense ministry.

Stanikzai worked high peace council head, acting minister for defense ministry and currently is acting head for NDS.

It is pertained to mention that since establishment of national unity government has introduced three nominees for defense,but all candidates failed to get vote of confidence from parliament.
