NSA discusses peace prospects with British envoy

AT News Report-KABUL: National Security Advisor Haneef Atmar met with British Ambassador to Afghanistan, Sir Nicolay Kay, in Kabul on Saturday and discussed prospects of peace process.

Atmar in the meeting with discussed future plans of peace process. National Security Advisor extolled support of British government and people from Afghan-led peace process, saying that Britain is a strategic partner of Afghanistan.

He called Britain’s commitment and cooperation in training Afghan forces as an important stride. British Ambassador Sir Nicolas Kay said Afghan government’s peace proposition is a positive endeavor and declared support for peace process.

He said the Afghan government’s ceasefire raised hopes for peace, reassuring his government’s support for future bilateral compacts, and bilateral ceasefire in particular. Both sides also discussed a series of issues of mutual concern.
