OIC support Ghani’s peace plan to reconcile with Taliban

AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has reassured Afghanistan that it would support President Ghani’s peace plans to negotiate and reconcile with the militant Taliban movement, ZamanNews reported.
Yusuf Bin Ahmed Al Uthaymeen vowed support to the efforts of President Ghani of calling upon Taliban movement to engage in direct and unconditional peace dialogue.
In his statement at a meeting held on 11th September at the headquarters of the OIC in Jeddah, he stressed on the importance of Afghanistan’s endeavor to crystallize what it considers appropriate to establish sustainable peace, security and reconciliation among the segments of the afghan people.
The meeting comes in the wake of the international conference of Ulema on peace and security in Afghanistan held by the OIC in Jeddah and Mecca last July, to follow up on the implementation of the OIC resolutions on Afghanistan and the recommendations.
Al Othaimeen said the conference laid the foundation of reconciliation, stressing the need for everyone to engage in this political process. He urged member states to harness their political and diplomatic influence to bring all factions in Afghanistan to the table of peace and negotiations.
