Over 10,000 kilo narcotics torched in Badakhshan, Nangarhar

AT-KABUL: Counter Narcotics Police discovered and torched over 10,000 kilograms of drug in Badakhshan and Nangarhar provinces.

Counter Narcotic Department of Ministry of Interior torched 976 kg opium, 121 kg heroin, 19 kg morphine, 68 kg hashish, 500 liters of chemical precursors and 19 liters of alcoholic beverages in Badakhshan, it said in a statement.

The drug was torched in presence of provincial officials and people representative, added statement.

Statement said that the aforementioned drug was discovered and seized in different part of Badakhshan during ten months last year.

Some 64 suspects including one woman have been arrested on the charge of trafficking.

Meanwhile, the Narcotics Interdiction Unit (NIU) in a statement said four heroin process laboratories were destroyed during operation conducted in eastern Nangarhar province.

The anti-narcotics operation has been conducted in the Nakorkhil area of Khogyanai district, which besides destroying of drug laboratories, discovered and torched 9670 kilograms of narcotics and chemical materials, added the statement.

Statement highlighted that the torched drug included 5740kg morphine, 2330kg hashish and 1600kg chemical.

13 armed insurgents were killed and one was arrested during operation as well, underlined the statement.
