Over 190 Taliban killed in Afghan raids

KABUL: At least 193 Taliban insurgents have been killed and 110 others wounded during a series of military operations carried out by the Afghan security forces in different provinces in the past 24 hours, the defense ministry said on Sunday.

Backed by the Afghan Air Forces, the Afghan security forces have conducted operations and counter attacks against the Taliban militants in Nangarhar, Maidan Wardak, Khost, Ghazni, Uruzgan, Kandahar, Zabul, Herat, Farah, Samangan, Helmand, Kunduz, Baghlan, Takhar, Parwan and Kapisa provinces, in which 193 Taliban insurgents were killed and 110 others were wounded, the ministry said in a statement.

According to the statement, 20 rounds of mines and IEDs that were planted by the Taliban insurgents to target civilians and security forces were also discovered and defused.

Huge amounts of weapons and ammunition were also destroyed, the statement added.
