Over 300 factories shut down in Nangarhar due to power shortage

AT

Kabul: Factory owners in the Sheikh Mesri industrial town of Nangarhar province say that they have suffered heavy losses in the past month due to the lack of electricity.

These industrialists add that the lack of electricity has caused serious economic problems and has made thousands of workers unemployed in this city.

The factories in Nangarhar are demanding that part of the electricity available inside the house be given to them so that they can run their industry and thousands of workers can have a decent livelihood.

Officials of Breshna Company states that the reason for this problem is the interruption of electricity imported from Uzbekistan to Afghanistan.

Hekmat Meyvandi, the press officer of Breshna Electricity Company, says that they are trying to solve the electricity issue and find a way for this problem as soon as possible.

He adds that according to the contract, imported electricity from Uzbekistan is not sufficient and they are trying to afford power for industrial plants with domestic electricity.

The lack of electricity in Afghanistan has not only caused many problems to the industrialists. Moreover, people and governmental and non-governmental institutions also complain about the interruption in their work due to the lack of electricity.
