Pakistan ramps up Durand Line fencing despite backlash

AT News

KABUL: Pakistan has finished 80 percent of the Durand Line fencing despite facing backlash from the people on the both side of the line.

The Pakistani interior ministry said that the fencing would be completed within ten days.

The Pakistani military began fencing the imposed Durand Line in 2017, posing hurdles for the residents of the two sides who have engaged and connected in mutual social, ethnical and economical interests. Pakistan’s fencing the line faced serious backlash by the residents of the two sides.

However, the Pakistani government has been declaring the line as official border but none of the Afghan government so far agreed to accept Durand as border with Pakistan.
