Pakistan welcomes India’s positive role in Afghanistan

AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: A senior Pakistani official has said that Pakistan will welcome India’s positive role in Afghanistan for peace and stability in the region.

Pakistani media outlets quoted the secretary foreign affairs, Aizaz Ahmed Chaudry, as saying that the United States should exert pressure on India to resolve all issues with Pakistan.

“We should also cooperate with each other in a way that no country’s concerns could arise,” Obama was quoted as saying by media in reference to the Indian cooperation in Afghanistan.

“Pakistan wants peace, progress and balance of power in the region,” Chaudhry was quoted as saying by Radio Pakistan.

The secretary said that Pakistan was eager to build better ties with regional and neighboring countries including India.

He added that Pakistan even went two steps forward to resolve all issues with India but regrettably New Delhi never reciprocated Pakistan’s good gesture.

The US President Barack Obama who recently paid a three-day visit to India told a joint news conference with the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi earlier on Sunday that the US saw New Delhi as a trustworthy partner in Afghanistan.
