Pakistani merchandise exhibited in Kabul

By Farhad Naibkhel-KABUL: The fourth exhibition of Pakistani products inaugurated Thursday in Kabul.

“Running of such exhibition is at mutual interests of both countries,” Muzamel Shinwari, deputy commerce minister said.

He said that Afghanistan and Pakistan had different mutual commercial relations, urging Pakistan businessmen to invest in Afghanistan.

“We must strive hard to increase mutual commercial deals to five billion dollars as committed between Afghan-Pak high ranking officials recently,” he added.

He said that the transit pact between the two countries would be revised to facilitate trade issues for Afghans.

He said that the two governments would address transportation problems Afghan businessmen are facing in Pakistan soil.

Shinwari added that the trade rate had recently decreased from $2.5 billion to $2 billion, but did not explain the reasons.

“Railway project is very important between both countries, mutual efforts should be taken to complete the project,” he said.

Deputy of Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Industries Khanjan Alkozai asked both governments to separate politics from commercial deals.

He said that economic growth will positively impact over elimination of violence and terrorism issue among both nations.

Pakistan Ambassador to Afghanistan Abrar Hussein said that running of such exhibition would lead to a new chapter of economic cooperation between both countries.

“There are two primary reasons to have better economic relations with Afghanistan. First is Afghanistan’s strategic importance and the second Pakistan’s cultures and geographical proximity to it.”

We have mutuality of interests and shared objectives, he added.

He highlighted that due to geographical proximity Pakistan is Afghanistan’s root to foreign market and it is a largest and most important trading partnership.

“We are committed to fully facilitate Afghan transit trade to Pakistan,” he underlined.

It is pertained to mention that at the same time an anti-Pakistan protest organized by number of Afghan people in Kabul. They were holding banner read “choice is at your hand do you select domestic goods or Pakistani? Boycotting Pakistan products are equal to boycotting Taliban and Terrorism.”
