Police clamp down on rioting motorcades

AT Monitoring Desk-In the midst of euphoria for commemoration of death anniversary of national hero Ahmad Shah Massoud and hundreds of motorcades with overexcited and armed supporters, Kabul police have arrested over 100 people and confiscated weapons and vehicles, a local news agency ZamanNews reported.
More than hundreds supporters of Ahmad Shah Massoud have been arrested for sporadic shooting; ten rifles and 25 vehicles have also been seized by police, a spokesman for Kabul police chief said.
The 17th death anniversary of Ahmad Shah Massoud and Martyr’s Week was commemorated at Loya Jirga pavilion in attendance of tens of high-ranking government officials, politicians, Jihadi leaders and hundreds of supporters of late Massoud.
Outside the pavilion and in the streets, hundreds of euphoric supporters wielding guns marched with their vehicles and made sporadic firing. Officials say more than dozen people have been injured as a result of random firings.
Meanwhile, a caravan of supporters was attacked earlier after a motor bomb struck into the multitude, leaving 2 dead and 12 injured.
