Political, jihadi leaders agree on national consensus for peace
AT-KABUL: President Ashraf Ghani in a meeting with the political and jihadi leaders including the former president, discussed the ceasefire and other political issues, in which, the leaders expressed support of the ceasefire and agreed with Ghani’s proposal over a national consensus, president office said Tuesday.
The political leaders also called for a correct management of the 10-day ceasefire from the government.
President Ghani has started talks with the national, political and jihadi leaders to take their viewpoints over the peace process and ceasefire with the armed Taliban.
In the Tuesday meeting, Ghani talked to Hamid Karzai and other political and jihadi leaders over the ceasefire, peace and current situation in the country, according to his office.
It added that all the leaders supported the ceasefire extension and peace process, agreeing over a national consensus.
They also called on Taliban to start peace talks as soon as possible for the people’s sake and help ensuring durable peace.
Ghani is expected to share the result of his meetings with political and jihadi leaders as well as civil society representatives with the people.
