KABUL: Russian President Vladimir Putin has said that Moscow is keeping contacts with all Afghan political forces, stressing that all afghan ethnic groups should be involved in running the country.
At a meeting with his Tajik counterpart Emomali Rakhmon in Dushanbe on Tuesday, Putin said that Russia will “proceed from the assumption that all of Afghanistan’s ethnic groups must have a say in running the nation.”
He also said Moscow was in contact with all Afghan political forces and “will continue to work this way.
Russia’s TASS news agency quoted Putin as saying that Russia had been trying hard to help normalize the political situation in Afghanistan. “We are trying to establish relations with the political forces that control the situation.”
