Kabul: The Russian foreign ministry announced on Friday that Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will head the delegation at the upcoming fourth foreign ministers’ meeting of the neighboring countries of Afghanistan.
The fourth ministerial conference of Afghanistan’s neighboring countries (with the participation of Russia, China, Iran, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan) is scheduled for April 13 in Samarkand (Uzbekistan).
The meeting aims to discuss regional efforts toward an Afghan political settlement and stabilizing the humanitarian and socio-economic situation in Afghanistan.
The Russian foreign ministry emphasized the importance of coordinating counter-terrorism and anti-drug efforts, given the challenging security situation, growing terrorist activity, and drug production in Afghanistan.
Additionally, the ministry highlighted the meeting’s focus on regional economic integration and the implementation of transport and energy projects involving Kabul in accordance with previously reached agreements.
