AT-KABUL: At least 12 Taliban insurgents were killed and five others wounded in different operations launched by the security forces within the past 24 hours across the county, security officials said on Saturday.
“The national army with the cooperation of the national police and the national directorate of security operatives, conducted clearance operations against insurgents in different districts of Nangarhar, Ghazni, Paktia, Paktika, Logar, Kandahar, Uruzgan, Ghor, Takhar, Baghlan, Kunduz, Sar-i-Pul, Jowzjan, and Helmand provinces,” the defense ministry said in a statement.
“In these operations, 12 insurgents were killed and five others injured,” it said.
“Unfortunately, five soldiers were also killed during the clashes.”
Separately, the National Directorate of Security (NDS) said on Saturday that its operatives detained a group of six terrorists linked with the Haqqani terrorist network in eastern Paktia province.
It said the operation was launched in the Gardez city, the provincial capital.
The statement said that the detained rebels involved in different subversive activities including laying mines in road side, which was caused killing of innocent people in the province.
“They were tasked by Asmaiel S/O Mashoq one of the Haqqani terrorist network commander to conduct terrorist activity in different area of the province,” the statement added.
