Security forces kill 90 rebels in fresh offensives
KABUL: At least 90 militants have been killed and 25 others have been wounded in the offensives launched by security forces across the country in the past day.
The defense ministry said the army and police forces jointly with intelligence personnel launched operations against insurgents in different areas of Nangarhar, Herat, Ghazni, Badakhshan, Faryab, Khost, Sar-e-Pul, Uruzgan, Kunar, Helmand, Baghlan, Kandahar, Nimroz, Logar and Paktia provinces.
A statement by the defense ministry said 90insurgentswere killed and 25others wounded in these operations. Afghan forces have arrested six suspects during clampdowns and handover them to judicial organs for further inquiry.
Afghan National and Defense Security forces shelled and bombed the enemies’ positions and sanctuaries by artilleries and air forces.
During these operations in the past 24 hours, 23 Taliban fighters were killed, 14 others wounded, two vehicles and an ammunition cache destroyed in Andar, Muqor districts of Ghazni, four insurgents were killed and six others wounded in Zurmat district of Paktia, three militants were killed and one wounded in WazaKhwah district of Paktika, three rebels were killed and four others wounded in Qala-e-Zal district of Kunduz, one Daesh affiliates were killed and six suspects arrested in Watapoor district of Kunar province.
Similar during airstrike, 19 Daesh fighters were killed in Achin district of Nangarhar, 19 insurgents were killed and some weapons and ammunition destroyed in Qaisar and Dawlatabad district of Faryab, 13 militants were killed in Balablok district of Farah, five insurgents were killed and five enemy hideouts busted in Kajaki district of Helmand province.
In past 24 hours, 20 planed clearing operations,and105 Special Forcesoperations conducted in different provinces; also, Air forces conducted80aerial operations supporting Afghan National army including 14 strikes on enemy’s sanctuaries.
ANAdiscovered and confiscated weapons and ammunition in the operations as well.
