Security forces killed over 130 Taliban rebels in fresh crackdowns

KABUL:At least 131 militants have been killed and 50 others wounded in multiple extensive military crackdowns conducted by the Afghan security forces across the country in the past 24 hours.

Ministry of Defense in a statement said the Afghan National Army (ANA) in collaboration with Afghan National Police (ANP) and National Directorate of Security (NDS) personal conducted joint operations against insurgents in different areas of Paktika, Paktia, Kandahar, Helmand, Ghazni, Badakhshan, Zabul, Badghis, Ballkh, Urzgan, Faryab and Nangarhar provinces, in which 131 militants, including two Daesh affiliates and two Taliban’s red unit commanders were killed and 50 others wounded.

Moreover, Afghan forces arrested one militant and handed him over relevant judicial organs for further investigations.

The Afghan National Defense and Security Forces shelled and bombed the enemies’ positions and sanctuaries by artilleries and Air Forces.

During operations, 37 insurgents, including Taliban red unit deputy commander were killed, one detained, five motorbikes and amount of weapons and ammunition were destroyed in clearing operation in Sharan and Zurmat highway of Paktia and Paktika—21 insurgents killed, four wounded and 10 rounds of IED were discovered and defused in artillery attacks and response attacks in Shah Walikut and Nish districts of Kandahar—21 insurgents killed, four wounded, eight fighting positions, two motorbikes, amount of weapons and ammunition were destroyed in airstrikes and clearing operation in Nahar Saraj district and province capital of Helmand—13 insurgents killed, 11 wounded four rounds of IED were discovered and defused in response attacks in Gelan, Dehyak districts and capital of Ghazni—12 insurgents killed and one wounded in airstrikes in Karan-wa Manjan district of Badakhshan province.

Similarly, 17 insurgents, including Omran, a Taliban red unit commander were killed and amount of weapons and ammunition were seized in airstrikes and response attacks in Shah Joy district of Zabul—7 insurgents killed and 13 wounded in clearing operation in Muqur and Quds districts Badghis, 5 insurgents killed and two others wounded in airstrikes in Char Chino district of Urzgan—three insurgents killed and nine were wounded in clearing operation in Charbulak, Zahrakh, Chamtal amd Nahar Shaheyi districts of Balkh—three insurgents killed and six wounded in response attacks in Gurziwan district Faryab and two Daesh or IS-K insurgents were killed in an airstrike in Pachiragam district of Nangarhar province.

In past 24 hours, 12 planed clearing operations, and 74 Special Forces operations conducted in different provinces; also, Air forces conducted aerial operations supporting Afghan National Army, including 30 strikes on enemy’s sanctuaries.
