AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: Afghan security forces seven of 10 passengers kidnapped on Kabul-Jalalabad Highway on Friday.
Laghman police chief, Dawoud Amin, said that the incident took place in Sorkhakan district of the province on Kabul Jalalabad highway when a group of unknown gunmen stopped a vehicle and kidnapped 10 passengers.
He said that timely action of police secured safe release of seven of the kidnapped people. He said that based on unconfirmed information that they have received the three remaining passengers have also managed to flee to safety.
Motive behind the kidnapping is not clear yet. This incident came at time that the fate of 31 Hazara passengers kidnapped on Kabul-Kandahar Highway in Zabul province is still not clear. The Hazara passengers were kidnapped more than two months ago.
Kidnapping incidents have increased across the country over the past two months. Seddiq Seddiqi, spokesman for the Ministry of Interior, recently said that the ministry has mounted efforts to curb incidents of kidnapping across the country.
