Sediqi sanguine about military operations success

AT-KABUL: Hinting at security forces’ success in military operation in parts of the country, the Interior Ministry on Saturday said at least 120 joint crackdowns against militants were launched in different areas of the country where terrorists suffered heavy losses.

Spokesman for Ministry of Interior (MoI), Sediq Sediqi, told a press conference that the military operations were launched to clear areas of militants, adding that at least 372 terrorists were killed and 48 others were arrested in the crackdowns.

He added that nearly 64 vehicles, most of them motorbikes, were recovered in the military operations. He said the security forces recovered 45 different types of weapons and defused 61 mines of different types which were planted and made by the enemies.

Hinting at security forces’ success in pushing back militants in Charsada and Pasawand districts’ clashes, and said they have increased their focus on Ghazni, Kunduz, Faryab and Badakhshan provinces. “Security forces have imposed heavy losses on insurgents in the provinces and are ready to defend the country in case of any kind of threats by the enemies,” he stated. “Militants have been suppressed by security forces in different parts of the country, that’s why they are clinging to propaganda aimed at creating distrust about security forces,” he added.

He mentioned that military operations by security forces are ongoing in different parts of the country. “Continuation of war will bring nothing but defeat and destruction for enemies of Afghans,” he concluded.
