AT-KABUL: Stressing on-time parliamentary poll, Meshrano Jirga (MJ) or Senate asked the government to complete preparations for the Wolesi Jirga (WJ) election this year.
The senators said the country would not have a legitimate administration unless the parliamentary poll was not held.
Gul Ahmad Azami, a senator from Farah, urged the National Unity Government (NUG) leaders to hold parliamentary election on time as the Wolesi Jirga or Lower House of the parliament will complete its term in July 2015.
Nisar Haris, a senator from Kabul, criticized some members of the Wolesi Jirga (WJ) and said the MPs have delayed the elections law in order to prevent the upcoming poll from taking place as per the schedule.
Stressing on timely Wolesi Jirga election, Chairman of the MJ, Fazal Hadi Muslimyar, said that based on the Constitution the WJ would loss legitimacy after July this year. If the poll was not held, the parliament would give its legitimacy from hands. “Therefore, the country must see the election.”
