AT-KABUL: The special court of Criminal Justice Task Force (CJTF) said on Monday that seven drug smugglers already arrested were convicted and sentenced to prison.
The CJTF did not provide details about the term of the jail they were sentenced to, but said that seven smugglers were apprehended by Counter Narcotics Police through different counter-narcotics operations in Logar and Nangarhar provinces.
“After primary investigation the detained drug traffickers were handed over to CJTF for criminal proceedings.”
Some 118 kilograms of heroin, 1,075 kilograms of opium, 17,598 kilogram hashish, 20 kilogram precursors and 30 liters of acid recovered and confiscated in the abovementioned smugglers’ hideouts, mentioned the statement.
The jail terms for drug traffickers are five year at least and 20 years at most.
