Shahrazad Akbar to continue as chairperson of IHRC

AT Kabul:

“Thomas West”, the US special representative for Afghanistan peace affairs, says that Shahrazad Akbar will continue her duties as the head of the Independent Human Rights Commission of Afghanistan.

West said in a twit, that he talked with Shahrazad Akbar about the tightening of restrictions against women and freedom of expression by the Taliban.

He also said that the need for political and national dialogue was emphasized in the last telephone conversation with the former head of the Afghanistan Independent Human Rights Commission.

While the Taliban announced the dissolution of the Afghanistan Independent Human Rights Commission and a nmber of other bodies on 2021.

The US special representative in Afghanistan has announced that Shahrazad Akbar will continue her work as the head of the Independent Human Rights Commission. He said: “She is continuing her work to monitor and document human rights abuses in Afghanistan”.
