Soldier killed in car bomb in Wardak

KABUL: One security force member was killed and number of others wounded in a car bombing carried out by Taliban- that also inflicted casualties on civilians in Maidan Shar, the capital city of central Wardak province.

Provincial Police Spokesman, Mohammad Mustafa Mayar said that gunfire erupted between security forces and the Taliban after the attack on Tuesday mid- night. He said that the security checkpoint was destroyed a result of blast.

Provincial Health Officials said that four wounded including a woman were evacuated to hospital for medical treatment. The condition of the wounded was reported stable.

A resident of the province, Ahsan Stanikzai said that the explosion was so powerful which smashed glasses of the nearby houses.

Taliban spokesmen have said nothing regarding this so far, but a local commander of the group on condition of anonymity said that 15 security force members were killed during the attack and six others were captured by the Taliban.

Wardak is insecure province, where Taliban are strongly active in many parts of the province, many times carrying out attacks on the security forces.
