AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: Hundreds of special persons in a protest on Saturday asked the government to pay heed to their status and provide them shelter.
The rally was held on the occasion of International Day of Mine Awareness and Assistance in Mine Action. Most of the protestors were those who have lost part of their bodies in mine explosion.
They asked the government to consider justice in distributing land for special persons as they claimed that lands in a township for special persons have been distributed for those who are not eligible.
Sher Hassan, head of an organization for people with disability, said he has tried for years to establish training courses for special persons but the government has not supported his initiative so far.
Afghanistan is among the courtiers that has witnessed thousands of special persons in three decades of wars.
A number of special persons said they have been sidelined and the government has paid no attention on their status.
However, the allegations were rejected by officials in the Ministry of Labor, Social Affairs, Martyrs and Disabled said they are conducting the land distribution process in a very transparent pace.
They said that all of their services are to help people with disability and improve their life.
