Tala Wa Barfak district has not collapsed; Clashes underway; Taliban assailants will be defeated: MoD
AT-KABUL: Heavy clashes underway between the Afghan security forces and the Taliban insurgents in Tala Wa Barfak, the strategic district of northern Baghlan province, official said on Tuesday.
The Taliban insurgent will be defeated and military personnel from Afghan National Army’s 209 Shaheen Crops will reduce the militants to rubble, the Ministry of Defense said in a statement, with total rejecting the report of district collapse to the Taliban insurgents.
It is a very strategic district for both the government and the Taliban militants due to its boundary with Bamyan and Parwan provinces.
However, the Provincial Council Chief, Safdar Mohsini confirmed that the Taliban militants took control of the district on Tuesday afternoon.
He added that urgent military support is needed to recapture the district and avoid casualties to the security forces.
He lamented that the district would not be fallen to the Taliban insurgents if appropriate military support had been provided to the security forces that were fighting the Taliban insurgents.
The Taliban insurgents under their spring offensive have escalated attacking security forces and trying to capture more districts. But the brave Afghan security forces will not let the insurgent to be succeeded in their evil goal. Recently, the Afghan forces recaptured Kohistan district of Badakhshan province after 72 hours collapse. The district regained after the Ministry of Defense deployed 40 commandos that cleared the district within few hours.
