Taliban captures yet another district of Kunduz

AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: Dasht-e-Archi district of northeastern Kunduz province has fallen to the Taliban, said an official in the district.

Dasht-e-Archi district chief, Nasiruddin Saadi, confirmed that the district has fallen under the Taliban’s control around 8:00 am on Monday.

This is the second district of Afghanistan that has fallen to the Taliban’s hands this week.

The Taliban militants earlier this week captured Chahardara district of the province.

Saadi said that 80 percent of the district has been under the Taliban’s control over the past two years.

Maulvi Abdullah Qarluq, a senator from Kunduz, in an interview with Radio Azadi blamed lack of coordination among security forces for collapse of Dasht-e-Archi. He warned that several other districts in the province are on the verge of collapse.

“Police chief of the district have handed over the Dasht-e-Archi to the Taliban,” Qarluq alleged.
