Taliban car bombing claims five lives in Kabul
AT-KABUL: A Taliban car bombing early Thursday morning claimed lives of five people in western part of Kabul city officials said.
The bomber detonated his explosive laden car against a convoy of the National Directorate of Security (NDS) in Bagh-e-Dawood area of Police District 5th,in west of the capital today morning at 5:00am.
The powerful blast “martyred” four members of the security forces and one civilian, Kabul Police Spokesman, Hashmat Stanekzai told Afghanistan Times.
At least five members of the security forces and one civilian were also injured in the bombing which was claimed by the Taliban.
This has been the first major attack in Kabul by Taliban since start of the month and end of Kabul’s unilateral ceasefire with the militants which ended on 30 June.
Militant spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid claimed they have targeted those members of the security forces who were involved in a series of special operations against Taliban hideouts in neighboring Maidan Wardak and Logar provinces.
Afghan security forces in recent weeks stepped up their special raids against those Taliban groups who are taking part in destructive and terrorist attacks in the country.
