Taliban hangs tribal elder in Uruzgan

AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: A tribal elder – named Haji Abbas – has been publicly executed by the Taliban militants after being kidnapped in southern Uruzgan province, said official on Wednesday.

District chief of Khas Uruzgan, Abdul Karim Karimi, said the Taliban rebels kidnapped the tribal elder and Malik of Shahidan area earlier in the morning and later hanged him to death in public.

Taliban militants have not commented on execution of Haji Abbas by the time this report was filed. Haji Abbas was also member of the council of Khas Uruzgan district.

This is the second incident of its type this month.

The Taliban fighters executed Imam of a local mosque after he spoke out against insurgency during his Friday sermon in Faryab province on July 16.
