KABUL: The Taliban have staged more than 110 attacks on several districts in the western province of Heart, local officials said.
Provincial Governor, Sayed Abdul Wahid Qatali has told a press conference that the Taliban sought to deteriorate the security situation in western zone “but they were failed” to make any progress.
The fighting between the security forces and Taliban had been continued for more than 20 days in Parsi district of the province, he said, adding that only 25 Afghan security forces repelled the militants attack whose number was more than 200.
He didn’t provide further information on the number of Taliban casualties. He called on the residents to stand against the militants. The insurgents have surged targeted-attacks and bombing in the ongoing year.
Qatali claimed that the Taliban caused about 20 million dollars damage to the public institutions in Shindand district, with destroying roads, bridges and government complexes.
Herat is one of the insecure provinces in west of the country. The province shares border with Iran.
