Kabul: Officials in Ministry of Public Health of the Taliban Administration say that in the past month, 200 thousand mothers and children have visited health centers due to malnutrition.
Sharaf Zaman, the spokesman of this ministry, told media: “In the month of August, nearly 200,000 nursing mothers and children suffered from severe and moderate malnutrition, and the mothers and children suffering from malnutrition were treated.”
The economic crisis in Afghanistan has affected most mothers and children, and the lack of access to health services has made the situation more difficult.
The spokesperson of the Ministry of Health of the Taliban administration added that currently, 500 mobile teams have been deployed throughout Afghanistan in addition to health centers to treat people suffering from malnutrition.
Following the seizure of power by the Taliban in August last year, development aid to Afghanistan was stopped, many businesses were shut down and unemployment in the country has increased.
